The ice parlour is located on the lawn at the entrance to the Inselwallpark, adjacent to the Johannes-Selenka School and within walking distance of the TU Braunschweig campus. The site is easily accessible via the nearby bicycle route.

The circular lawn defines the building’s volume, allowing it to open equally toward all directions. The floor plan is organized into three zones: a solid rammed-earth core on a concrete foundation housing the sales area, storage, and sanitary facilities; a lightweight steel–timber hybrid structure forming a raised peripheral walkway which stands in deliberate contrast to the massiveness of the core and provides shaded seating, and lastly the surrounding lawn itself, which remains an active public space now as an open area of the ice parlour.

The roof consists of timber beams with stretched fabric membranes that provide shade and protect the rammed-earth core from rain. At its center, the structure culminates in a semi-circular copper dome, which acts as a visible landmark and enhances the building’s identity.
